Electric drumset

Tried two @ Music City:

Also got recommended Alesis turbo as middle option, didn’t try, but I could call and have them build it for me to try. Though now on the internet looks like it’s a cheaper option, so maybe lower quality than nitro?

Differences in terms of playing: crimson has more dynamics. no bell on cymbals on nitro. nitro doesn’t support double kick! pads feel better on crimson, nitro feels more cheap and plasticy. but nitro is still good in terms of playing (guy at the store said best option given price point).

For both: output into aux - speaker or headphones. can also output midi or usb. input from aux, so if you play a song, it gets mixed with drums and you hear both through headphones. very good dynamic response. built-in metronome. programmable pads, though crimson probably to a greater extent. Spare parts quite easy to get. Not very portable, folds but takes up a lot of volume, at least two bags (so very tough to take by plane but that’s expected).

Roland not recommended. The guy there bought one and it didn’t work as well, ended up returning it I think. According to him: Roland was one of the first, now they’re a bit behind in terms of functionality and quality, and you still pay premium for brand name.
